BROADWAY, FILM AND TELEVISION ACTOR TAYE DIGGS TO HOST INAUGURAL EPISODES OF STAGE NETWORK’S ‘CROSSOVERS’ TALK SHOW

NEW YORK- STAGE, the world’s first streaming network for premium content devoted to the world of theatre, today announced that Broadway, film and television actor Taye Diggs has signed on to host the inaugural three episodes of the Networks’ original, half-hour talk show, “Crossovers.”

“The concept of ‘Crossovers’ features one-on-one interviews with an artist who has crossed over from theatre to another media, or vice versa,” said Rich Affannato, chairman, CEO and co-founder of STAGE. “Taye fits this bill, having starred on Broadway in ‘Rent’ and ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch,’ on television in ‘Private Practice,’ and in films including ‘How Stella Got Her Groove Back’ and ‘The Best Man.’”

The show, which is beginning production this month on its first three episodes, will be taped in front of a live studio audience of 100+ aspiring young actors at Harlem Stage in New York City.  The conversations with the host (Diggs), as well as a selection of questions from the audience, will explore how theatre informed arts in other media, challenges faced, tools utilized and more.  Previews of “Crossovers” will be available on STAGE’s free platform launch in August, with the full episodes launching on the new streaming media network’s subscription-based premium launch in October.

Taye stars in the romantic comedy, “Set It Up" opposite Zoey Deutch and Lucy Liu, which will begin streaming on NETFLIX, June 15th. Diggs will begin filming the new series “All American” for The CW this summer. He also completed the independent film “River Runs Red,” featuring John Cusack and George Lopez. He was most recently seen on season 4 of “Empire" asAngelo Dubois. Diggs starred in three seasons of TNT’s “Murder in the First,” alongside Kathleen Robertson. For his role in the series, Diggs earned a nomination for a 2014 NAACP Image Award in the category of “Outstanding Male Actor in a Drama Series.”

On September 18th of this year, Taye and collaborator, Shane Evans (cousin and illustrator) will release their third children’s book, “I Love You More Than”. This book is a follow up to his first two children’s books, “Chocolate Me,” and “Mixed Me!” through MacMillan Publishing.
